In the winter of 1955, Forest Park children could be found ice skating at the flooded tennis courts at the Park District or at the flooded basketball court at 16th/Circle.  For warmer rounds of skating, St. Bernardine's hosted roller skating in the parish hall on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays.
